Joplin High School
9th and 10th grade students will attend school at
Memorial Education Center, 310 W 8th Street. Memorial Education Center
was built in 1896 and has been used continuously since then as a school.
In 2009, Memorial Education Center underwent a renovation to upgrade the
existing building.
11th and 12th grade students will attend school at the Shopko
Campus, 101 North Range line Rd. Building D. This 84,000-square-foot
building has enough parking to meet the needs of our students and staff,
and it gives us the opportunity to create a 21st-century school design.
Franklin Technology Center
Franklin Technology Center students will attend school at the 420 South
Grand Campus that is
currently an empty warehouse.
This facility will provide the utilities we need for power-intensive
programs like auto mechanics and welding, and it has the location,
parking and square footage we need for our technology center. Over
the summer, we will retrofit the campus to create learning spaces
for our students.
Franklin Technology Center will continue to offer all programs to
students. Joplin Schools will provide transportation for students
attending Franklin Technology Center programs.

East Middle School
East Middle School students will attend school
at the Crossroads Industrial Park, 7501 East 26th
Street.
Irving Elementary School
Irving Elementary School students will attend school at
Washington Education Center, 1112 East 2nd Street. This former
school has been standing empty and is ready to serve as a school
again. The property can accommodate modular units to provide
additional classroom space.
Emerson Elementary School
Emerson Elementary School students will attend school at
Duquesne Elementary School, 1301 South Duquesne Road.
Duquesne is closer to Emerson than Duenweg, so it is a better
location for Emerson families. Students previously attending
Duquesne will attend Duenweg Elementary School.
Duquesne Elementary School
Duquesne Elementary School students will join the students at
Duenweg Elementary School, 202 Molloy Circle, for the 2011-12
school year.
School administrators made this decision because the separate
cafeteria and gym location will enable ease in scheduling. In
addition, the Duenweg property, which includes nearly six acres,
can accommodate modular classrooms.
Early Childhood Development and
Parents as Teachers
Early Childhood students the Parents as Teachers department will
attend school at McKinley Elementary School, 610 South Forest
Street.
This is a central location for families, has separate cafeteria
and gym facilities and has space to add modular units.
Beacon School and JHS FLEX Program
Beacon and FLEX will attend school at the Roi S. Wood campus,
1717 E 15th Street, which was our administration building. We
will repair the tornado damage to this building over the summer
and prepare it to house these programs.
Administration, Technology, Special Services and the Copy Center
Joplin Schools administration, technology, special services
and the copy center will move to the former Missouri
Department of Transportation Campus at 3901 East 32nd
Street.
The MODOT building would not work for classroom space
because it does not have enough bathrooms to be used as a
school.
